Zomato man arrested for allegedly hitting a woman claims of his innocence
Days after Hitesha Chandranee, a Karnataka-based makeup artist and influencer, posted a video online saying that a Zomato delivery man attacked her and fled. Following the viral emergence of the video and the arrest of the suspect, the Bengaluru Police brought to the notice of several new items including the statement from the executive denouncing the Hitesha allegations.
“After I reached her apartment door, I handed her the food and I was expecting her to pay me (as she had opted for cash on delivery mode of payment),” Kamaraj was quoted talking to media.
Kamaraj also apologized for the delay in arrival due to traffic and poor roads, but Chandranee was extremely rude.
“She asked me ‘Why are you late?’ I apologized and said there was some civic work going on and also there was traffic congestion. But she kept on insisting that the order has to be delivered within 45-50 minutes. I am working on this job for more than two years and this is the first time that I have had to go through this kind of an ordeal,” he said
He went on to say that after receiving the order, the woman denied to pay and said she was speaking with Zomato support staff.
The delivery man said that he appealed her to pay the bill, but she called him a ‘slave.’ After that, Zomato customer service advised the man that his order had been cancelled, but the woman declined to return the food.
