Police arrested ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ actor Karan Mehra after his wife, actress Nisha Rawal, filed a complaint against him at Goregaon police station on Monday night (May 31). Following a scuffle, the actress filed a lawsuit against her spouse. A case has been filed against the actor, according to the Mumbai Police Department.
Karan Mehra was produced before a magistrate court in Borivali (west) on Tuesday morning, Vishal Thakur, Deputy commissioner of police, zone XI, confirmed.
According to Goregaon police, Mehra’s wife and actress Nisha Rawal approached them on Monday night and lodged an FIR under Sections 336 (act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others) and 337 (causing hurt) of the IPC.
According to the allegation, the pair got into a fight at their Goregaon (west) home, and the actor assaulted his wife. Mehra was held for questioning and then arrested shortly after the complaint was filed.
Karan Mehra is out on bail. Speaking about the whole incident, the actor said that Nisha has filed a false case against him. He said, “(Last night) I was talking to my mother over the phone when Nisha barged in and started hurling abuses at me, my parents, and my brother. She started shouting loudly and not only that Nisha even spat on me. When I asked Nisha to go out, she threatened me by saying ‘see what I do now’ and went out. She then smashed her head on the wall, and told everyone that I did it.”
The rumours of trouble in Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal’s marriage started doing the rounds earlier in May. However, in an exclusive conversation with Aajtak, Karan rubbished the rumours. He had said, “I have no clue what led to these rumours all of a sudden. I saw this news today only and I have been getting calls from everywhere. When Nisha got the news, she had also cleared it. Even after that, I don’t know how these rumours started spreading.”
There were reports that Karan and Nisha were facing trouble in their marriage for a few months now. However, they were working on it. Karan was staying in Punjab for a while now busy shooting for his Punjabi show. Due to that, the couple was not able to spend much time together. They have a four-year-old son Kavish.
Karan and Nisha have been married for the last eight years and have a four-year-old son. Mehra is known for appearing on a couple of TV reality shows with his wife Rawal and became popular for his role in the TV show ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’. His wife Rawal was last seen in the TV show Shaadi Mubarak.
