A woman has found a 2.08-carat diamond in a mine in Krishna Kalyanpur Pati area in Panna district, Madhya Pradesh.
Chameli Bai, a housewife is native of village Itwakala, has found 2.08 carat diamond in a shallow mine.
The woman took the mine on lease is located in the Krishna Kalyanpur Pati area of the district, according to the official.
The woman has deposited the precious stone in the local diamond office in Panna, the official said.
The quality of stone is better and is expected to earn Rs 10 lakh.
The diamond will be put up for sale in an upcoming auction before that the authorities will fix the price as per the government guidelines.
After deducting the royalty and taxes of the amount earned through auction of the diamond, the remaining amount will be handed over to the woman, officials said.
Arvind Singh husband of Chameli told local reporters they had decided to try their luck in diamond mining and leased a small mine in Krishna Kalyanpur Pati area in March this year.
They now plan to buy a house in Panna city with the money from the diamond auction, he said.
