Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the state government is fully prepared and will work expeditiously to meet the possible challenges of saving Kharif crops in the state due to scanty rainfall and increasing demand for electricity along with providing employment to rural youth and maintaining drinking water arrangements smoothly. In this hour of need, the state government stands with the farmers.
Chief Minister Chouhan has said that he will go to Ujjain tomorrow and pray to Lord Mahakal.
Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing a meeting organized to deal with the situation of deficient rainfall at Samatva Bhavan located at the residence office today.
Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that there has been very less rainfall in the month of August. Crops are affected due to shortage in rainfall. Kharif crops are in trouble.
We will work with full force to deal with this crisis. Demand for electricity has also increased, he said.
We will also make better arrangements for this. Crops will be saved by releasing water from the dam, he said.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that attention will also be given to the provision of employment to rural youth. We will arrange for drinking and sewage water.
Chief Minister Chouhan directed the officials to hold a meeting of the Water Utility Committee soon. Arrangements to release water from the dam should be made where water is available.
Dams should be examined. Information should be sought about how much water is currently available in the dam. Necessary instructions should be given to the district administration. Advisories should be issued to farmers regarding irrigation.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that better arrangements should be made for electricity.
