London. Those who travels on wheelchair in London and other worldwide cities on public transport will be able to get accessibility information from Google Maps now.
Google maps users can filter for “wheelchair accessible” advice whenever they plan for journeys in the capital.
However, disability groups has suggested that the information which is feeded must be up-to-date and accurate in order to be helpful.
This service is initially accessible on desktop and it will soon be rolling out across iPhone and Android devices too.
This service is launched in New York, Tokyo, Mexico City, Boston, and Sydney also with plans to get it launched across other locations.
The information of London only covers the underground, bus, DLR and tram networks and will soon be feeded for the overground later on.
It is not entirely accurate though
Alan Benson, chair of disability access group Transport for All said: “Getting around the London network on a restricted basis takes a lot of knowledge and confidence, something that I have built up over many years.
