Bumrah said there is good bounce in the Centurion wickets, adding that the team is relying on videos of previous games to work out a strategy.
India had never hoped for such a bad start to a long South African sojourn but pacer Jasprit Bumrah on Wednesday asserted that the team had taken lessons from the mistakes they committed in Newlands. Jasprit Bumrah had taken 4 wickets in the first Test against South Africa in Cape Town. He did help India in restricting South Africa to low total of 130 runs in the second innings. A 24-year old young Indian fast bowler who got a maiden Test cap in Cape Town on his first ever tour to South Africa, and also getting AB de Villiers as the first wicket in the format is no less than a“dream debut”. But for Jasprit Bumrah, it was actually not. “It was not a dream debut. I was happy with whatever I learnt from that match.” Bumrah said.
“We realized what mistakes we made in the first innings, so (on day four) we were trying to create pressure from both ends and focus on our lengths which were wrong in the first innings. We just tried to correct them and not overdo things because over here when there is help from the wicket, you try to do extra but that won’t help. So we were just trying to be disciplined and stick to basics,” he added.” he added.
Bumrah further stated that their team was full of confidence of making a comeback.
Maybe the fact that India was defeated by 72-runs in the first Test and are trailing 1-0 in the 3-match series prompted Bumrah to make the assertion. Speaking to reporters, the young player added that he wishes to take the confidence he gained from the match for the rest of the tour. “As a bowler, my motto is not to get too excited and not to get too down after every match. I want to take confidence into the next match,” he told.
