Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Bengal, the state government has moved summer vacations ahead and asked all schools in the state to close as of today, April 20.
The start of summer vacation for government schools was set for May 7. Students from Classes 10, 12, and teachers have been attending the schools since mid-February.
The school will be closed from today in Bengal. If necessary, board exam training will take place online. In Bengal, the 10th-grade boards are expected on June 1st, and the 12th grade boards are due on June 15th.
Last year, due to the outbreak of coronavirus, all physical classes were canceled, and students continued to study online. After an 11-month hiatus, West Bengal’s schools reopened on February 12.
The West Bengal government said an effective decision would be made in light of the surge in coronavirus incidents, giving preference to the welfare of students who will sit for the state board’s upper secondary and secondary tests, shortly after CBSE canceled exams for students in Class 10 and deferred exams for students in Class 12. Exams are expected to begin in June. “Considering the COVID-19 condition, the government would undoubtedly take a decision in the interest of students at the right time,” State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee had previously said.
The board is yet to make a recommendation about whether or not the state’s board exams for 2021 will be canceled or postponed.
Several states and Union Territories have closed schools, colleges, hospitals, and other educational facilities due to the dramatic rise in successful COVID-19 events. Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan are among the states that have closed schools and colleges.
