Due to repair work by the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation, water supply will be disrupted in many areas of Mumbai on Tuesday (BMC). The city council had previously mentioned “technical difficulties” in some areas of the city’s western suburbs, which necessitated the repairs.
Juhu, Vile Parle, Santa Cruz, Khar, and Andheri are among the areas where water will be cut off or provided at low pressure.
“On July 13, from 10am to 10pm, water supply will be cut off in some areas, or will be done at low pressure. This one-day change is being made to streamline the water supply in these areas. We humbly request citizens to cooperate,” the BMC said in a tweet on Sunday.
The BMC stated in the notice that it will replace the valve (which it refers to as the butterfly valve) as a result of which the water supply will be disrupted. “To improve the smoothness of the water supply, the valve must be replaced. It will enable us to provide a variety of civic services to residents of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation area. It will also assist Mumbai residents in obtaining safe and pure drinking water “In the notice, the BMC stated.
In the notice, the civic body also stated that it performs such maintenance work “from time to time.”
The BMC has advised residents to conserve water and use it sparingly.
The task to replace the 1200mm diameter valve at the Bandra outlet of Part 2 of Veravalli Reservoir 3 will be done in 12 hours due to which the water supply will be affected from 10am to 10pm, according to the BMC.
