Delhi. Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Ariz Khan, alias Junaid, the most wanted terrorist of the Indian Mujahideen. Special cell deputy commissioner Pramod Singh Kushwaha told reporters at the police headquarters here that Junaid was arrested last evening from Banvasa near Indo-Nepal border. Police had got a hunch that Junaid was about to meet anyone in Banvas. After that, the police has trapped the dangerous terrorist and grabbed him and achieved great success.
Terrorist Junaid specializes in making bombs
Kushwaha told that he was involved in several bomb blasts. In these blasts, 165 people were killed and 535 injured. He specializes in making bombs. He said that Buttla was involved in the house encounter in 2008 in the Jamia Nagar area of Junaid Delhi. During the encounter, he was absconding.
Married to Nepali girl
After the Batla House encounter, he stayed in India for nearly a month and then went to Nepal. In this one month no one has given him shelter in him and thus he traveled on buses and trains and then went to Nepal. In Nepal, he married with a girl resident in Nepal.
Reward of 15 lakh rupees on him
He said that Junaid was a reward of 15 lakh rupees was to be given who could help to catch him. NIA had to give Rs 10 lakh and Delhi Police a reward of five lakh rupees. Apart from Butla House, Junaid was also involved in many other criminal activities.
Junaid is an engineer
Kushwaha told that Junaid is basically a resident of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Junaid is an engineer by profession, he was absconding during the Batla House encounter in 2008. The encounter took place six days after the serial blasts in Paharganj, Barakhamba Road, Connaught Place, Greater Kailash and Govindpuri in Delhi. In these blasts, 30 people were killed, while more than 100 people were injured. Junaid is accused of involvement in these bomb blasts.
Conspiracy to activate Indian Mujahideen and SIMI in India
He told that Junaid told in the interrogation that he had conspired to re-enable Indian Mujahideen and SIMI in India. He said that a fellow Tauqeer has already been arrested. Junaid and Tauqir were teaching in the same school in Nepal.
