Tirath Singh Rawat, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, has tested positive for Covid-19 and has been kept in isolation. “Under the supervision of the doctors, I’ve isolated myself. Please be careful and get yourself checked if you have had close contact with me in the last few days,” Rawat tweeted. He was set to arrive in New Delhi today for a four-day visit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and other cabinet officials.
The 56-year-old BJP leader said in a tweet that he has gone into self-isolation. “My coronavirus test resulted in a positive result. I’m fine and haven’t had any problems. Under the care of doctors, I went into self-isolation. Please get examined and take precautions if you have lately come into contact with me.”

On Sunday, India recorded 46,951 new cases of coronavirus infections, according to the Union Health Ministry, with 30,535 cases in Maharashtra and 2,644 cases in Punjab. For the first time since January 12, the number of deaths reported across the world has surpassed 200. The number of active cases has surpassed 3.34 lakh, a high last seen around December 15.
