The Bombay High Court has praised the UP Model of Covid Management. In its observation, the court seemed to be persuaded by the model used by the state government to save citizens and children in Uttar Pradesh from corona contamination.

Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the country’s NITI Aayog lauded the Yogi government’s ‘UP model’ for Covid management.

When referring to the provisions made to shield children from Corona under the UP model, the Bombay High Court asked the government there why the Maharashtra government does not consider doing so here. The connection was to the UP government’s plan to construct 50 to 100 pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) in each major city to protect children from corona infection.

Even the pediatric community has praised the UP government’s decision as a boon for children. Significantly, CM Yogi has always been committed to keeping children safe from illness. The entire state of Purvanchal is aware of his drive to eliminate life-threatening diseases such as encephalitis.

In the same series, when the Chief Minister followed a three-T policy to save people from Corona infection, he directed medical experts to devise a different scheme to save children from Corona infection.

On the advice of medical professionals, the CM directed the establishment of 50 to 100 Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) in each of the state’s major cities. These beds will be designed specifically for children over the age of one month. The bed will be small in dimension and will have side railings. Children who are severely sick will be treated and given oxygen.

In particular, both districts have been required to be on high alert to ensure that children are treated well in the state. The CM has also directed that staffing be increased for these children’s hospitals.

The Chief Minister has stated that if possible, ex-servicemen and retired doctors would be called in. Medical students can also be trained in this field.

Dr. Salman Khan of Dufferin Hospital in Lucknow, a pediatrician, believes that the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to quickly build 50 to 100 pediatric beds in all major cities is an important way to protect children.

He mentioned that dedicated children’s beds are available in the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) for children older than one month, the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) for children younger than one month, and the SNCU (Sick Newborn Care Unit) for children born in Women’s Hospital.

The Bombay High Court bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Girish Kulkarni took note of the news stories about the UP model of infant care. It requested that the Maharashtra government consider doing so there.
