According to police, a 19-year-old woman and her 50-year-old mother were stabbed to death on Sunday night in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district by a man who allegedly wanted to marry the girl. They also said that a third woman, a relative, was seriously injured and was taken to a local hospital.
The accused, who is on the lam, is a family neighbor. According to police, he was a classmate of the 19-year-old and vowed to marry her.
Both families were unhappy with their “companionship,” as per locals, and had a confrontation about it a few days earlier. They also said that the girl’s family had gotten her engaged elsewhere about two weeks earlier.
