In light of the continuing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) epidemic, the state government of Uttar Pradesh issued Bakrid, also known as Eid-ul-Adha, guidelines for the celebration on Monday.
According to news agency PTI, state minister Yogi Adityanath attended a Covid-19 review meeting with senior authorities, where he urged them to make all required preparations in light of Bakrid.
“In view of Covid, not more than 50 people should gather at any place at a given time for any event related to Bakrid,” PTI quoted the above-mentioned official as saying. The state government has also asked its officials to ensure that no cows, camels or any other banned animals are sacrificed anywhere.
According to a PTI report, the edict stated that only specified places or private premises should be utilized for animal sacrifice and that great care should be taken for cleaning.
1.7 million cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Uttar Pradesh so far, with 56 new cases added on Sunday. According to the health department’s report, seven more individuals died from the virus on Sunday, bringing the overall death toll to 22,721 and total recoveries to 1,683,866, respectively. The total number of active cases in the state has dropped to 1,260.
In addition to Uttar Pradesh, states like Assam and Karnataka have set festival rules to avoid the spread of the Covid-19 illness.
The Assam government has advised people to stay at home during the celebrations, and just five individuals, including the religious head, are allowed to perform Namaaz at the mosque.
Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Hajj and Wakf administration has announced that no more than 50 persons would be permitted to pray in a mosque on the festival’s day. Masks must be worn by all participants, and a six-foot space between them must be maintained during praying.
