In Rabi Season 2021-22, Under the Food and Logistics Department and other purchasing agencies, 6000 purchasing centers have been set up to purchase wheat directly from the farmers for a price of Rs. 1975 per Quintal under the Minimum price support scheme.
Wheat procurement has started in all the districts of the state from 01 April 2021 A total of 4.92 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been purchased in the state so far and 94590 farmers have been provided the benefit of the support price scheme. While this time last year, about 39000 farmers were benefited by purchasing a total of 53,679 .17 metric tonnes of wheat.
At the present time, all the purchasing agencies of the tax agencies are operating in the state, and wheat is being purchased smoothly from the farmers at the centers. By PPCU (61008.88mt), SFC (13357.10mt), Market Council (13720.96mt), and Food Corporation of India (17883.55mt). Thus a total of 492471.43 mt has been purchased.
So far, 7,11,865 farmers have registered themselves for purchase online.
For the convenience of farmers, online tokens have been arranged this year, under which any farmer can get the token at his convenience for the sale of wheat at the nearest purchasing center associated with his village at the time of registration or even after registration. So far 1,38858 farmers have obtained the token online from which the purchase is being done at the purchasing centers. If a farmer brings wheat to the center without obtaining the token, then his wheat will also be purchased.
Instructions have been given to take adequate precautions at the purchasing centers to prevent the Covid-19 Outbreak
Directives have also been given to ensure that at the time of purchase social distancing and covid protocols are being followed for the safety of farmers and staff at the centers.
The Uttar Pradesh Government has made sitting arrangements for the Farmers and also made sure of the availability of clean drinking water for the farmers coming to the purchasing centers.
