Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav found positive for covid19 on Wednesday.
“When the initial symptoms were seen, I got myself tested for Covid and my report came back as positive. I am in self-isolation and fully following the instructions of physicians. I am doing all work virtually,” he tweeted in Hindi.
Akhilesh Yadav said in a Hindi tweet today, “The results of my corona test were positive. I’ve cut myself off from the outside world and begun therapy at home. Anyone who has been in touch with me in the last few days should get checked. They’ve been told they’ll have to sit in isolation for a few days.”
Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is isolating himself, according to a tweet he sent out this afternoon. The news comes a day after he was put in quarantine after some of his office’s officials tested positive for the virus. The 48-year-old stated that the state government’s operations are running smoothly, and urged anyone who has had contact with him in recent days to get tested.
He said all activities of the state government are being conducted normally. “Meanwhile, all those who have come in contact with me must get themselves checked and take precaution,” he added.
Yogi Adityanath’s announcement coincides with that of his predecessor, Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, who has also tested positive for COVID-19.
He had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine earlier this month in Lucknow.
Besides keeping an eye on the Covid situation in the state, the Chief Minister has been vigorously campaigning for his party, the BJP, in the eight-phase assembly election in West Bengal.
The Uttar Pradesh government asked all schools to close until April 30 last week. It also ordered that districts with more than 100 new illnesses a day be subjected to night curfews from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
