Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, launched a Twitter war on his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee on Friday, saying she should rise beyond “petty politics” in the aftermath of Cyclone Yaas and cooperate with the country to bring assistance to people.
He added in two tweets, “Honorable PM @narendramodi Ji and the entire country stand with the people of Bengal.” @MamataOfficial should rise beyond petty politics, let go of her ego, and cooperate with the rest of the country to bring assistance to the people of Bengal.
“Non-cooperation by @MamataOfficial with the Centre is a flagrant breach of constitutional principles and goes against the idea of cooperative federalism,” he said. Her absence from the PM’s meeting demonstrates her insensitivity to the welfare and betterment of the people of Bengal during these trying times due to Cyclone Yaas.”
Earlier in the day, Banerjee missed a review meeting hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which also included West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, BJP Nandigram MLA, and Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari, and Raiganj MP Debasree Chaudhuri.
She did, however, meet with Modi to provide an update on the cyclone’s impact.
