Under ‘Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana’, beneficiaries can now take two small cylinders of five kg’s instead of a large LPG cylinder. To prevent the problem of moving large cylinders in the hills and far flung areas, five kilograms of small cylinders have been started.
Small gas cylinders will be available only at subsidy rate. Under the Ujjwala scheme, now the beneficiaries will have to take 14.2 kg of big cylinders as well as the option of taking a 5 kg cylinder. According to Sanjeev Singh, President of Indian Oil, the small cylinder’s security deposit is 800 rupees. Whereas the security amount of large gas cylinder is Rs 1,250.
this case, a beneficiary takes two five-five kilogram cylinders with Ujwala gas connection, then it will have to pay an additional 350 rupees. Because, under the Ujjwala gas connection, there is a provision of bigger cylinder security deposit of Rs. 1250 / i.e.
Changes in Software
Public sector oil companies have made changes in their software to give five kilograms of gas cylinders to the beneficiaries under Ujwala Gas Scheme. So, there is no problem to the beneficiary who has opted to take small cylinders by paying some 350 rupees. Singh said that people living in the hills and remote areas will get the benefit.

Indian Oil from the new financial year says that it will start supplying BS-fuel in Delhi completely from 1st April. Company President Sanjeev Singh said that to take full advantage of this, trains with fuel should also have BS-6.
