The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) for admission to universities will not be conducted this academic year.
However, the commission stated that a common entrance test for admission to Central Universities will be held in the academic year 2021-2022, with the CUCET taking effect in the academic year 2022-2023.
“In light of the ongoing pandemic, admissions to Central Universities during the Academic Session 2021-22 may proceed as usual.
From Academic Session 2022-23, the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) may be adopted “The commission sent out a tweet.
The CUCET was proposed in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Following that, the Education Ministry formed a committee to investigate the procedures for the said entrance test for admission to undergraduate courses in Central Universities.
New instructions on examinations and the academic calendar have already been announced by the UGC. It stated that the admission procedure for Undergraduate Level programmes should begin only after the CBSE, ICSE, and state boards have released their results.
