Citizens of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be unable to travel to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka until July 21, according to media reports citing authorities. Citizens must comply with all precautionary and preventive measures related to Covid-19 with the start of the travel season, according to reports citing the emirates’ foreign ministry and the National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority.

The order was issued after the UAE extended a travel ban on passengers from 14 countries until July 21 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Flights from 14 countries—Liberia, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Zambia, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and South Africa—will be suspended until 23:59pm on July 21, 2021, according to the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority. The restrictions would not apply to cargo flights, as well as business and charter flights.

The UAE also stated that if their citizens test positive for Covid-19 while travelling, they must self-isolate and follow all instructions, requirements, and health protocols imposed by their host countries. They must also notify the UAE’s embassies in their host countries if the situation changes.

Infected Emiratis will be allowed to return to the UAE after obtaining the necessary approvals from the host country’s relevant authorities as well as the UAE’s competent health departments, and complying with all guidelines and health requirements necessary to ensure their safe return.
