The Central Government has reversed its decision of issuing orange passports separately for passport holders and passport holders with immigration check availability (ECR) status. According to the information given by the Ministry of External Affairs, the government had received several representations in this regard. After reviewing it, the government decided to change its old decisions. Now the existing system of printing of passports will continue.
No Foreign passport
ForeignMinistry said that on 29 January there was a meeting under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj. In this meeting, two earlier decisions related to passport were reviewed on the basis of representations received to the government. After extensive discussions with different parties, the Ministry of External Affairs decided that the existing system of printing the last page of passport will continue. Also, decision to not issue orange color passport to passport holders with ECR status was also decided.
The decision was taken on the recommendation of the committee.
It is important that the government had decided not to print the last page in the new passport after the recommendation of the three-member committee. On this page there is the name of the father or wife of the passport holder. The address of the passport holder is also on this page. The information of ECR is also on this. Passport holders with ECR status were decided to issue an orange color passport. In this regard, the notification was issued on 12th January.
The decision of the government was opposed to the decision of the opposition government. Congress President Rahul Gandhi told the people of ECR status to differentiate the decision to issue orange passports as discrimination. He said that the government is treating migrant workers as second-rate citizens. Although the government had said that its decisions were to ease the complexity. But after the response from various sections, the government changed its decision.
