Two persons are arrested into Rs. 1.99 crore fraud committed in various branches of HDFC bank in Jabalpur including Civil Lines, Adhartal, Ranjhi, Dhanwantri Nagar and Tilhari in connivnce with the sub-examiner of the bank.

Superintendent of Police, Jabalpur Aditya Pratap Singh (I.P0.S.) complained to Vikram Singh Chauhan, 39 years of age, resident of LIG 12 Punit Nagar Aadhartal, that he is working as a Location Manager in HDFC Bank.

HDFC Bank Limited is a banking company incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956, and governed by the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, having its registered office at HDFC Bank Limited, Bank House, Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel (West), Mumbai. HDFC Bank office is located at GCF Road Civil Line Jabalpur.

In the regular audit of gold loan taken by some customers in the last financial year, two customers Manoj Kumar Patel resident of New Ramnagar, Chittaranjan Ward, Gohalpur Amkhera, whose loan was of Rs 194800, dated 22/08/2022 and Rahul Yadav resident of Ganesh Classes, loan of Rs 274400/- of Ganesh Nagar, Kachhpura, Jabalpur was executed on 02/08/2022 from HDFC Bank Branch Civil Line.

When CIC department’s examiner Ajay Kumar Soni had doubts about the purity of the gold jewelery during the audit, notices were sent to both the concerned customers and the said jewelry was called for examination.

When both the customers did not appear in the bank even after sending notices to the said customers and repeatedly calling them, the jewelery of the said customers was examined by the bank in the presence of a notary as per the rules, on which it was found that the jewelery was given to the bank as security for the loan.

The jewelry is fake.

The jewelry has been plated with gold.

When the above incident came to light before the bank officials, the jewelry found to be fake by the bank was found to be fake and after getting the jeweley similar or similar to the jewelry given by other customers as security for loan, jewelry of some other customers were also found to be fake.

When the information about other jewelry found to be fake, the profile of the loan borrowers and the examiner appointed by the bank was extracted, it was found that the said jewelry was examined by the sub-examiner Satya Prakash Soni, resident of Soni Bhawan, near Gokalpur Ranjhi, appointed by the bank in the above loan process.

Due to which the bank officials became suspicious of the role of Sub-Examiner Satyaprakash Soni.

The bank officials also got the jewelry tested by sub-examiner Satyaprakash Soni, on the basis of which loans were taken from other branches of the bank, as a result, fake jewelery was found in five branches of the bank, Civil Line, Adhartal, Ranjhi, Dhanwantri Nagar and Tilhari.

A total of 83 loans whose total amount was Rs 1 crore 99 lakh 76 thousand were found to be executed by keeping it as security.

The loan was taken from and the gold jewelery given to get the said loan was also made available by the same people.

When the jewelry provided by the bank for the said loan was examined as per the rules, the jewelry of Manoj Kumar Patel, Vivek Kumar Jharia and Gaurav Kumar Ranjan was found to be fake.

When bank officials asked sub-examiner Satyaprakash Soni, he said that he had made a mistake in checking the jewelry. In the investigation, gold of total 83 gold loan account holders was found to be fake, the police communique said.

Thus, the bank’s sub-examiner Satya Prakash Soni, account holders Ankit Saini, Pankaj Vishwakarma, Shubham Sahu and others have conspired to cheat the bank to the tune of Rs 1 crore 99 lakh 76 thousand and have caused profit to themselves and loss to the bank.

A case was registered against Satya Prakash Soni, account holders Ankit Saini, Pankaj Vishwakarma, Shubham Sahu and others in Police Station Civil Line after Jabalpur Superintendent of Police Aditya Pratap Singh (I.P.S.) ordered to take legal action on the complaint 420, 120B IPC. The crime was registered and taken up for investigation.

Under the guidance of City Superintendent of Police Priyanka Shukla (I.P.S.) and City Superintendent of Police Omti Pankaj Mishra, a team was formed under the leadership of Police Station Incharge Civil Line Dheeraj Kumar Raj.

The team of cops arrested Ankit Saini, 33 years old and Pankaj Vishwakarma age 30 years both residents of Jabalpur City.
