Two persons were arrested for illegally loading and transporting teak logs in a pickup vehicle.
34 pieces of teak logs worth Rs 1 lakh and pickup loading vehicle used in transportation was seized.
Gosalpur Police station in-charge Priyanka Kewat said on 15-1-24, during patrolling, a loading pickup vehicle was seen coming from Kevalari Road near Barnu Tiraha seeing the police, the driver of the pickup vehicle tried to run away, but the cops managed to stop the vehicle.
Two persons were found sitting in the vehicle.
On asking for name and address, the driver of the vehicle told his name as Satish Thakur, age 19 years, resident of Kudwari police station Adhartal and Krishnapal Singh, age 30 years, resident of Deori police station Jai Singh Nagar district Shahdol, present address Narmada Nagar Gohalpur, pickup.
When asked what goods were loaded in the vehicle, the driver tried to skip the query that led to doubt, she said.
On checking of the vehicle that whose rear side was covered with blue polythene sheet was removed and on inspection it was found loaded with the teak logs, she said.
34 teak logs worth approximately one lakh rupees, was seized, she said.
When asked regarding the transportation of wood, the driver told the cops that there were no documents about the teak logs, she said.
After the accused were suspected to have stolen the teak wood loaded in the vehicle and was transporting it illegally without TP and without transport pass, 34 pieces of teak logs were recovered from the possession of the accused, she said.
While seizing the pickup vehicle an offence under section 379 of Indian Penal Code and 15, 26 (1) (f), 41, 41 A, 5 of the Indian Forest Act was registered against the accused and the case was taken up for investigation.
