Tribal Affairs, Public Asset Management and Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Dr. Kunwar Vijay Shah on 13 October honoured renowned screenwriter and producer-director Rajkumar Hirani with the ‘National Kishore Kumar Samman’ (year 2023).
The first National Kishore Kumar Samman was given to film director Hrishikesh Mukherjee in the year 1997.
The 27th Kishore Samman has been given to screenwriter Rajkumar Hirani.
In the ceremony, the memorable songs of late Kishore Kumar were presented by famous singer Neeraj Shridhar and his team from Mumbai.
In the program, Tribal Affairs Minister Dr. Shah said that late Kishore Kumar was a promising and skilled singer. His songs gave a new direction, a new dimension to film music.
He always used to say that he will eat milk and jalebi and will settle in Khandwa.
Screenwriter Rajkumar Hirani in his address thanked the Madhya Pradesh government for the National Kishore Kumar Award.
Late Kishore Kumar has been his favorite singer since childhood, today he feels very proud to receive the national honor in his name.
Culture Director N.P. Namdev read out the citation for Hirani and said that Shri Hirani is primarily known for entertaining films like Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006) and Three Idiots (2009).
Khandwa MLA Kanchan Tanve, Mayor Amrita Yadav, District Panchayat President Pinky Wankhede, along with a large number of public representatives, officials and music lovers were present at the National Kishore Kumar Samman program held at the Police Parade Ground in Khandwa.
