A radio-collared tigress was discovered dead in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna Tiger Reserve on Sunday, according to a senior forest official.

This is the fourth tiger death recorded in the state in the last ten days.

The tigress’s carcass, known as P-213 (32), was discovered on Saturday in the Gahrighat range of the Panna Tiger Reserve, which is situated more than 350 kilometers from Bhopal, according to an official.

On May 12, the tigress was discovered with swelling in its left thigh, he added, adding that the feline was tranquilized and later released after receiving veterinary attention.

After receiving reports about the carcass, forest officials arrived on the scene on Saturday. According to the representative, no criminal activity was discovered there.

According to him, the tigress died of natural causes.

Following the autopsy, the carcass was disposed of in accordance with National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines, he said.

On Friday, a decomposed tiger carcass was discovered in a buffer zone of the Bandhavgarh reserve in MP.

A tiger was discovered dead in the state’s Kanha Tiger Reserve on May 8.
