After breakup, a 22-year-old man reportedly shot dead his ex-girlfriend and two others at her home in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district. Later, the man committed suicide.

According to the local Amla police, the accused, Bhanu Thakur, entered the house of Barkha Soni, a 25-year-old lady, with two handguns and started fire. The other two casualties were the woman’s 22-year-old cousin and her 18-year-old neighbour.

Bhanu and Barkha have apparently known one other for the last six years. The woman’s family, on the other hand, was never accepting of their relationship. The relationship was apparently going through a hard period due to her family’s dispute.

Meanwhile, Barkha’s family had even lodged a police complaint about stalking and eve-teasing against Bhanu, following which the police had called him on Saturday and urged him to stop approaching the woman.

After leaving the police station, Bhanu went straight to Barkha’s home and committed the murders before killing himself.

The police informed that he had shot a video and uploaded it on Facebook. It was through the video, which was sent to the police as well, that the entire incident came to light.

Betul SP Simla Prasad said, “Before the killings, Bhanu Thakur had shot a video of himself and uploaded it on social media. He also mentioned buying two country-made guns in the video.”
