India won three gold medals in the Asian junior boxing championships on Sunday, with Rohit Chamoli (48kg), Bharat Joon (81kg), and Vishu Rathee (girls 48kg) all winning their final bouts in Dubai.

While Chamoli triumphed over Mongolia’s Otgonbayar Tuvshinzaya in a thrilling final, Joon defeated Kazakhstan’s Yerdos Sharipbek 5-0 to claim the title.

Chamoli came back from a 2-0 deficit in the first round to win the match 3-2.

Muskan (46kg), on the other hand, had to settle for a silver medal after losing to another Uzbek, Ganieva Gulsevar, in a close fight.

Tanu (52 kg), Aanchal Saini (57 kg), Nikita (60 kg), Mahi Raghav (63 kg), Rudrika (70 kg), Pranjal Yadav (75 kg), Sanjana (81 kg), and Kirti (81 kg) will compete in the women’s finals later tonight.

After Devika Ghorpade (50kg), Aarzoo (54kg), and Supriya Rawat (66kg) lost in the girls semi-finals, India has already won six bronze medals in the junior event, with Ashish (54kg), Anshul (57kg), and Ankush (66kg) taking bronze in the boys’ event.

India finished third with 21 medals at the most recent Asian Junior Championships in Fujairah, UAE, in 2019. (six gold, nine silver and six bronze).

The junior gold medalists will receive USD 4,000, while the silver and bronze medalists will receive USD 2,000 and 1,000, respectively, at the current edition.

In the youth event on Monday, 15 Indian boxers will compete for gold.
