On Monday, the ministry of health and family welfare sent a central team to Odisha. They would monitor the Covid-19 management.
Dr. Shibani Dutta, a professor at the AIIH&PH Kolkata, landed in Bhubaneswar on Monday morning. He with Prasanta Raghab Mohapatra, a professor at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, complete the team.
“As per our programme, today we will have meetings with state government officials and tomorrow will visit the districts which are having high caseloads and rising case trend,” Dutta told reporters.
The team will examine early case tracking and testing, as well as surveillance and containment activities, during their field visit. They’ll also look into whether the hospitals, beds, and ventilators, she said. The team will keep an eye on the overall implementation of all Covid-19 norms.
They will also look at the availability of hospital beds, ambulances, ventilators, and medical oxygen, vaccination drive. According to sources, the team members would also make recommendations to the state governments on health remedies.
Khurda district has the most Covid-related deaths with nine, followed by Bargarh, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Sundergarh, and Puri districts with five apiece. Similarly, Kendrapara district reported four deaths, with Cuttack, Kandhamal, and Mayurbhanj reporting two each. Districts of Bhadrak, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Nuapada, and Sambalpur reported one Covid-19 fatality each.
However, the test positivity rate (TPR) dropped to 3.75 percent on Monday from 4.03% the day before. There have been 2,803 new cases reported, with 1,597 from quarantine centers and 1,206 from local contact cases in Odisha.
The total number of active cases in the state rose to 29,620, with 8,90,778 patients recovered so far.
