Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Head of Culture Section of UNESCO, Sushri Junhi Han, Secretary of Religious and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka, Somaratne Vidhra pathirana and Professor Gamini Ranasinghe, all members of a UNESCO delegation who attended the UNESCO Sub-Regional Conference held in Bhopal, at Chief Minister’s residence office Samatva.
Han presented a copy of ‘The Next 50 Ways Forward for South Asia World Heritage’ and ‘The Bhopal Vision Statement’ to Chief Minister Chouhan.
Chouhan welcomed the members of the delegation with a bouquet and presented a replica of Sanchi Stupa and Angavastram of Chanderi.
Chouhan said that the organizing of UNESCO Sub-Regional Conference in Bhopal is a matter of pride and good fortune for the state. According to the tradition of Atithi Devo Bhava, the state government has felicitated the guests who came to the conference. The findings of the conference have given new ideas and dimensions to the country and the world for the conservation of heritage. ‘The Bhopal Vision Statement’ will give a new direction to the conservation of heritage. The conference also proved useful from the point of view of cultural exchange. Sushri Han thanked Chief Minister Chouhan for successfully organizing the conference.
