According to an official notification released on Thursday, the Telangana government has named Black Fungus (mucormycosis), a disease that mainly affects COVID-19 recovered patients, as a notifiable disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897. The union health ministry and the Indian Council of Medical Research have issued recommendations for sampling, diagnosis, and management of Black Fungus, which must be followed by both government and private health facilities, it added.
