Sushil Kumar, a two-time Olympic medalist who was arrested in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl that resulted in the death of a wrestler, was interrogated for nearly four hours, according to the Delhi Police. Kumar and his associate Ajay were apprehended on Sunday in the Mundka area of Delhi’s outskirts.

Kumar began crying as soon as he was placed in the police custody, according to Hindustan Times’ sister publication Livehindustan. According to Livehindustan, he is being held in remand at the Model Town police station in Delhi.

According to the police, he was awake all night in the jail and refused to eat anything. They added that he cried a lot throughout the night.

Kumar claimed during his interrogation that all he wanted to do was scare Sagar Dhankad, a 23-year-old wrestler who was killed in the brawl on May 4. According to Livehindustan, which cited police officials, this is why Dhankad was beaten up.

According to Livehindustan, Kumar also stated that he stayed in the Chhatrasal stadium after the brawl, but that he left Delhi after learning of Dhankad’s death.

Officials with the police department stated that they are looking into the case from various angles. “We’re questioning Kumar to figure out what happened and how the crime got started, as well as his whereabouts after the incident. He was also interrogated about his associates and friends who assisted him in his concealment. He will be taken to the crime scene to be recreated “PTI news agency quoted a police officer as saying.

The incident occurred due to a dispute over a property in the Model Town area, according to the police.

They, on the other hand, refused to comment on a rumoured video of the incident, which Kumar allegedly had his associate record.

In connection with the case, police said they seized two double-barrel guns, seven live cartridges, two wooden sticks, and five cars.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Northern Railway said on Monday that wrestler Sushil Kumar will be suspended following his arrest by the Delhi Police in a murder case.

“The Delhi government submitted a report on the case to the Railway Board on Sunday. He has FIRs filed against him, and he will be placed on probation “Deepak Kumar, CPRO of the Northern Railway, stated.

Olympic medalist Kumar, a senior commercial manager with the Northern Railway, had been on deputation with the Delhi government since 2015, and was posted as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Chhatrasal Stadium to promote sports at the school level.
