Ankur Programme
A state-wide sapling plantation mega campaign will be conducted by the state government from August 13 to 15, 2023 under the Ankur programme. Principal Secretary Environment Shri Gulshan Bamra has issued guidelines to all Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors for the campaign to be conducted withthe participation of citizens, communities, government departments and voluntary organisations.
Identify Ankur Upvans
Collectors have been told to identify places for sapling plantation “Ankur Upvans” in all cities and villages for the convenience of the general public and ensure other necessary facilities. Non-governmental, community-based and private organisations of the districts can be associated with the campaign and planting of saplings can be undertaken on their premises and other suitable places.
Committee under chairmanship of the Collector
On the lines of the previous mega campaign, a district level committee will be constituted in each district under the chairmanship of the collector, including all the stake holders. The committee will review the weekly progress of the Ankur programme from August 13 to 15, along with continuous coordination, supervision and monitoring of the plantation drive.
Saplings to be planted in government offices and establishment’s premises
Saplings will also be planted in the premises of all government office buildings, public sector undertakings, industrial institutions, corporations-boards offices, schools, colleges, anganwadis, hostels, panchayat in the state during the mega campaign.
Arrangement for saplings
Arrangement of saplings will be done by the concerned person or organisation. The plants available in the nurseries of Forest, Horticulture and Agriculture Department will be used as per prevailing rules. The responsibility of the safety, irrigation and care of the planted saplings will be of the person, organisation or government institution that planted the saplings.
Registration of plantation on Vayudoot-Ankur app
Every person joining the campaign will have to register for plantation on the Vayudoot-Ankur app of the Ankur programme. The photo of each planted sapling will have to be uploaded on the Vayudoot app. The app can be downloaded from Google Play Store or Apple Store. After 30 days of plantation by the participants, the participation certificate can be downloaded after uploading the second photo of the planted sapling on the Vayudoot Ankur app. Third photo of the sapling will have to be uploaded after 6 months of planting.
So far over 66 lakh sapling plantations registered
Principal Secretary Bamra said that in order to make plantation a mass movement, a state-level plantation mega campaign was launched in the state from March 1 to 5, 2022, July 28 to August 15, 2022 and on February 19, 2023 with public participation. The citizens of the state participated enthusiastically during the mega campaign. So far, more than 66 lakh sapling plantations have been registered by more than 16 lakh citizens under the Ankur programme.
