Bengal. To stop the incident of shooting elephants in the North Eastern Frontier Railway (NFR) tracks, the government is using such tools to keep the sounds of bees roaring so that elephants stay away from these places.
A railway official said here that after success in Assam’s Rongia, NFR has decided to try it in its Alipurduar division of West Bengal. They said that the locals have also confirmed that the elephants keep away from the bees spoken by the bees.
He said that the sound from the bees is downloaded from the Internet and it is played on the amplifier, so that the elephants are 600 meters away in fear.
The equipment is being installed at the important places engaged with the crossing site and the tracks. There are 27 elephant corridors under NFR. In these corridors, areas of North Bengal, Eastern Bihar and North East are enclosed. Pranab Jyoti Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of the Alipurduar division said, “In the mid-2017, after the pilot project in Rangapada of Rangia division, no elephant was killed in the train accident.
Last week, five elephants were killed near the tracks after hitting the Guwahati-Silchar Express near Habibipur near Lambdaing Secure Forest area in Assam.
