According to police, a 37-year-old farmer from Sonepat’s Khanpur Kalan died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday while participating in the farmers’ demonstration against the Centre’s three farmer laws near the KFC Mall at the Singhu border.
Manoj Sharma, a farmer from Uttar Pradesh, recently attended the Samyukt Kisan Morcha’s mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar.
Since the farmers tented at Delhi’s borders in November last year, he has been involved in the farm protests.
Kundli police station officials arrived on the scene and sent the deceased to Sonepat municipal hospital for a post-mortem.
“We have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPc and started investigation,” a spokesman of Sonepat police said.
