The Madhya Pradesh Energy Department will set up two smart zones under pilot project in Gwalior to solve the problems of the electricity consumers, Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar instructed the officials.
The Smart Zones will have facility for consumers to sit and lodge the complaints round the clock, he said.
At the zones the maintenance team will be available with the vehicle, he said.
Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar gave these instructions during the review of the works of Power Management and Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company.
He said that under the pilot project, two smart zones must be created in Gwalior.
If successful, it should be implemented in the entire state, he said.
Tomar said a concrete policy must be made to improve the quality of electricity services. The number of trippings and disposal of such incidents need to be reduced.
He discussed about the paperless bill scheme introduced in current month. Tomar asked the power officials to make it more practical.
Tomar said the facility to register complaints on phone number 1912 for redressal of the complaints there must be a plan where the consumers can register the complaints in other places, to solve the problems quickly.
Tomar instructed the officials to ensure there is no shortage of transformers, electricity meters, insulators and wires.
Tomar earlier reviewed the works of Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company and asked the officials for regular maintenance of transformers and power lines. Also the officials were instructed for spot inspection of the transformers.
He said the smart meters must be installed according to the target.
Paschim Kshetra Electricity Company managing director Amit Tomar informed in power connections where the smart meters are installed, there is less complaint regarding electricity bill. The consumer can easily see the daily power consumption. If the consumer does not pay the electricity bill, the power supply is might be cut from the control room itself.
The Energy Minister said the benefits of installing smart meters should be evaluated.
