Dudhi Project
Salient features of underground irrigation systemTraditionally, water is provided in every 40 hectares in the open canal system. From here, arrangements are made to carry water to the farmer’s respective fields. This involves leveling the land and creating a drainage system within the field. The specialty of the project is that it will be provided with an outlet through an underground pipe canal distribution system for every 2.5 hectares of land area. Water will be available at this outlet with sufficient pressure. Farmers will be able to use sprinkler method or drip method for irrigation. The cost of 21 thousand 139 hectares of land in 61 villages of Pipariya assembly is worth Rs 5739.32 crores. |
The Dudhi irrigation project to be constructed near Dhadav village of Barkhedi tehsil of Narmadapuram district will open the doors of prosperity for the farmers. A dam of 162 meter length and 38 meter height will be constructed on Dudhi river. Irrigation facility will be made available in 55 thousand 410 hectare i.e. one lakh 36 thousand 921 acre area from this reservoir. Administrative approval of Rs 2631 crore 74 lakh has been given for the construction of the project. With the construction of the project, 30 thousand 410 hectare land of 92 villages of Narmadapuram district and 25 thousand hectare land of 113 villages of Chhindwara district will be provided with water up to 2.50 hectare through underground pipe system, through which farmers can be irrigated by applying sprinkler/drip. Due to the construction of underground pipeline system, there will be no permanent land acquisition for the canal. Permanent land acquisition will be done for dam, pump house. With this method of irrigation, farmers will not need to level the field. The benefit of a much more useful irrigation system will be available in less water.
