Shubman Gill, India’s opening batsman, has been ruled out of the five-match Test series against England, which begins in August, according to sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Gill is expected to remain in England with the Indian Test team.
According to reports, Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was designated as a standby player by the BCCI when the team was released, has been selected to replace him in the squad. Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul are also in India’s team as backup openers, with one of them expected to start with Rohit Sharma when the series begins.
Gill, who is 21 years old, has played eight Tests and scored 414 runs with a strike rate of 31.84. The child has three half-centuries to his name, the highest of which is 91.
The BCCI named a 20-man squad for the WTC final against New Zealand in Southampton and the England Test series.
Abhimanyu Easwaran is one of the four players on standby.
Easwaran has played 64 First Class matches and scored 4401 runs at a 43.57 average. With a top score of 233, he has 13 centuries and 18 fifties.
The first Test against England will take place at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on August 4th.
Then there are games at Lord’s, Headingley, the Oval, and Old Trafford.
