According to Mumbai Police sources, actress Shilpa Shetty fought with her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, during a raid at their home by the crime branch on Monday. During the argument, she is said to have burst into tears, and the team had to intervene to calm her down. She also admitted to the cops that she was unaware of his actions.
Raj Kundra was arrested in connection with a pornography ring last week and is currently in police custody. He’s allegedly involved in the production and distribution of pornographic content via the Hotshots app.
When the crime branch raided Raj’s Mumbai home, Shilpa was also questioned, according to sources. “After the interrogation, Shilpa was very upset. She and Kundra had a heated argument in which she yelled at him and demanded to know why he was doing such a thing and why he was doing everything. According to the sources, the crime branch team had to intervene between the couple to appease the actress. According to the report, Shilpa sobbed as she told the cops she had no idea what was on Raj’s phone.
Sources said that Shilpa confronted Raj and told him that his actions resulted not only in the family name being besmirched but also cancellation of endorsements and financial losses. “She asked him what was the need of doing such things when they achieved a standing in society,” the Mumbai Police sources said.
According to the sources, Raj expected his arrest after nine others were arrested in the porn case in March and tried to cover his tracks. “Kundra had changed his phone in March so that no data can be recovered. When Crime Branch officials asked him about his old phone, he told them he threw it away. Police believe that the old phone contains many important pieces of evidence and is looking for it,” they said.
The funds of Raj and Shilpa are being investigated by a financial auditor appointed by the crime branch. “The Crime Branch discovered transactions worth crores from Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s joint account during the investigation. The Crime Branch suspects that earnings from the apps ‘Hotshots’ and ‘Bolly Fame’ went into this account,” according to sources, who added that the money earned from the apps was being invested in bitcoins.
Raj was arrested in connection with a pornography case on Monday. He was charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (obscene and indecent advertisements and displays), as well as relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. He has been remanded in custody by the police until July 27.
