Sherlyn Chopra, who was called by the Mumbai police’s property cell earlier today, is expected to seek anticipatory release from the Bombay High Court before appearing before the crime branch.
Chopra, according to reports, has responded to the crime branch by stating that she will petition the court before coming before the criminal department’s property cell to record her statement.
Chopra had previously claimed on social media that she had made a statement to the cyber cell in connection with Raj Kundra’s business operations. Chopra was called by Mumbai police on Tuesday at 11 a.m. to appear before the property cell in connection with the porn racket case involving Kundra, who was detained on July 20.
Kundra’s firm, which is controlled by Kundra’s brother-in-law, used to run an internet streaming service that reportedly produced pornographic movies in cooperation with a London-based firm.
In June, Kundra asked for anticipatory bail in connection with a case filed by the Maharashtra cyber police last year in relation to several platforms that they said were involved in exhibiting pornographic information.
Police searched Kundra’s Viaan Industries headquarters recently and discovered papers connected to financial exchanges and cryptocurrencies.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Crime Branch has directed State Bank of India to seize two bank accounts of Kundra at Kanpur, according to bank officials.
The bank authorities noted that crores of rupees have been deposited in these two bank accounts.
