The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recorded a net decrease of 30,016 Covid-19 cases from the overall active caseload in the last 24 hours for the first time in 61 days on Tuesday.
In addition, after 61 days, new recoveries outnumber new events seen in the previous 24 hours.
According to the health ministry, India’s gross active caseload has dropped to 37,15,221 today, accounting for 16.16% of the country’s total positive incidents.
In the last 24 hours, 3,29,942 new cases were reported, with Karnataka reporting the most at 39,305, Maharashtra reporting 37,236, and Tamil Nadu reporting 28,978 new cases.
According to health ministry numbers, ten states—Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi—reported 69.88% of new cases in the previous 24 hours.
“Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar account for 82.68 percent of India’s total active cases,” it added.
In addition, with 3,56,082 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, India’s total recoveries now stand at 1,90,27,304, with a national recovery rate of 82.75 percent.
72.28 percent of new recoveries are in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, and Gujarat.
Furthermore, with 3,876 additional deaths in the last 24 hours, the nationwide mortality rate is now 1.09 percent.
Ten states account for 73.09 percent of new deaths, with Karnataka having the most fatalities (596), followed by Maharashtra, which had 549 regular deaths.
Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country today has surpassed 17.27 lakh.
As of 7 a.m. today, a total of 17,27,10,066 vaccine doses had been administered across 25,15,519 sessions, according to the preliminary data, and more than 25 lakh vaccination doses had been administered in the previous 24 hours.
As of Day 115 of the vaccination campaign (May 10, 2021), 25,03,756 vaccine doses had been administered. Over the course of 18,542 courses, 10,75,948 beneficiaries were vaccinated for the first time, and 14,27,808 got a second dose of vaccine.
“In the last 24 hours, 5,24,731 beneficiaries in the age group 18-44 years got their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, bringing the total to 25,59,339 across 30 States/UTs after the launch of phase-3 of the vaccination campaign,” the ministry said.
