Experimental trial will start in November
The work of sewerage project in Chhindwara is going on at a fast pace with the help of World Bank implemented by Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company under the Urban Development and Housing Department, which is almost nearing completion.
The project aims to connect 20 thousand 100 houses.
Against the target, more than 15 thousand houses have been connected to the sewerage network.
The total cost of the project is around Rs 237 crore. This also includes maintenance and operation for 10 years.
A sewerage treatment plant of 28 MLD capacity is being constructed in Sarra area of Chhindwara for proper disposal of sewage.
Its construction work is also almost complete. 257 km of sewerage line has been laid to smoothly implement sewerage disposal. The work of permanent road restoration is also nearing completion.
Representatives of voluntary organisations have conducted door-to-door awareness campaigns to encourage citizens to obtain sewerage connections.
The result was that the general public was motivated to voluntarily take sewerage connections.
Another feature of the project is that the treated water of sewerage will also be used in works like gardening, fire fighting and irrigation.
A target has been set to start the experimental trial of Chhindwara Sewerage Project from the coming month of November.
