Minister of External Affairs (MEA), TS Tirumurti said, “Cyril Ramaphosa is to be the guest of honour at the Republic Day celebration whose on his two-day visit to India.”
The practise session at the capital, Delhi for Republic Day was held at Rajpath. Students and Army contingents were seen practicing for the parade.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa are to talks on bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest in a while from now.
After the talks, the two countries are to sign agreements in different areas.
SA President Ramaphosa reached New Delhi Friday morning on a two-day visit to India. Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was the receiving visiting dignitary upon his arrival.
President Ramaphosa was presented a ceremonial reception at courtyard of President Bhavan.
Talking to media persons in New Delhi, the SA President said, “He is happy to be in India as the two countries enjoy age-old linkages.” Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa will be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day Parade on Saturday.
After Nelson Mandela, Mr. Ramaphosa is the second President of South Africa to be the Chief Guest at the parade.
To strengthen business ties between the two countries with an objective to grow, President Ramaphosa along with Prime Minister Modi will also address the India-South Africa Business Forum.
Mr Ramaphosa will also deliver the Gandhi-Mandela Freedom Lecture organized by Indian Council of World Affairs under IBSA framework as a part of the celebrations of the 15th Anniversary of IBSA.
IBSA Dialogue Forum (India, Brazil, South Africa) is an international tripartite grouping for promoting international cooperation among these countries.
President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will host At home reception in honour of the visiting dignitary on Saturday evening.
