The Kremlin said on Friday that Russia will not participate in any manner in the inauguration of the new Taliban administration in Afghanistan.
The speaker of Russia’s upper house of parliament, according to the RIA news agency, stated earlier this week that Russia will be represented at the inauguration by ambassador-level officials.
Several nations, including Pakistan, China, and Russia, are said to have been invited to Afghanistan’s new government creation event by the Taliban.
These three nations are notable for being among the few that still have embassies in the Central Asian country that has been taken over by rebels.
On August 15, the Taliban seized control in Afghanistan, just weeks before the United States intended to complete its army departure after a two-decade conflict.
As Afghan security personnel trained and equipped by the US and its allies faded away, militants swept over the nation, seizing all major cities in a matter of days.
The Taliban has lately stated that it wants good relations with all countries, including India, and that Afghan land will not be used against anybody else.
