Following the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led India into the current nationwide medical crisis, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat today called out the incompetence shown by different sections of the country.
“We are facing this situation because, whether it was the government, administration or public, everyone dropped their guard after the first wave despite indications from doctors,” Mr Bhagwat said.
A third wave, they claim, is on its way. Is it therefore anything to be afraid of? Or do you have the right mentality to battle and prevail against the virus?” he asked as part of the RSS’s ‘Positivity Unlimited’ lecture series, which aims to instil trust and positivity in people fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
He aimed to refocus the nation’s attention on the future so that the people and government could be better prepared for it by learning from past mistakes. Mr Bhagwat brushed aside India’s problems and urged Indians to gain trust in the face of a possible third wave by learning from today’s mistakes.
The sequence, which has been held over five days since May 11 and is coordinated by the RSS’s “Covid Response Team” in collaboration with various civil service organisations, features Wipro Group member Azim Premji and spiritual guru Jaggi Vasudev among the online speakers.
The RSS leader cited a remark that he said was still on former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s table when he spoke today. It stated: “This office is devoid of pessimism. We are unconcerned about the probability of failure. They aren’t true.”
Mr Bhagwat said that Indians must also achieve a full victory over the pandemic.
“The cycle of life and death will continue…these matters cannot scare us. It is these very circumstances that will train us for the future,” he said. “Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. The courage to continue is the only thing that matters.”
