Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that for the first time in the history of the state, the state government will provide funds from its budget to the urban bodies for the maintenance of roads so that the internal roads of the state’s cities are in good condition and the life of the citizens is smooth. Getting it done Maintenance of roads is the responsibility of the urban bodies. With a view to ensuring that adequate funds are available with the urban bodies for the maintenance of roads, the state government has decided to start a rejuvenation campaign and provide funds to the urban bodies. The Chief Minister said that civic bodies will have to take initiative to develop sources of resources at their own level. In this direction, the innovation of issuing green bonds by the Indore Municipal Corporation is exemplary.
Chouhan approved Rs 750 crore for the rejuvenation campaign for the roads of 413 urban bodies of the state from the Kushabhau Thackeray Auditorium today and transferred the first installment of Rs 350 crore to the urban bodies with a single click. 413 urban bodies of the state were connected virtually with the programme. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also interacted virtually with the office bearers of Indore, Mandsaur, Jaura, Rampur, Nekin and Dhanpuri urban bodies.
Complete the tender process in 15 to 20 days
Chouhan said that the work of maintenance of roads should be done within the time limit. After completing the process of tender in the next 15 to 20 days, repair of all the roads should be ensured by the month of May by appointing an agency. This will facilitate the citizens in the rainy season. It should be ensured that the work is of quality.
Work should be done with a competitive spirit at the ward level for cleanliness.
Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh has secured the first position in the field of cleanliness in the whole country. This has been possible only with the cooperation of public representatives and public participation. The cleanliness survey is going to start again in the month of March. All the urban bodies should start efforts in this direction by activating the communication and administration with the citizens. Work should be done with a competitive spirit for cleanliness at the ward level in the cities. Cooperation of residents associations and citizens should be taken in this. We all have to make the culmination of efforts and hard work to be at the first place in cleanliness.
There should be proper arrangements for drinking water in summer
Chouhan alerted the office bearers and people’s representatives to maintain proper arrangement of drinking water in the urban bodies during the summer season. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the works of Mukhyamantri Drinking Water Scheme should be completed with quality and proper maintenance should be done. He said that Rs 12 thousand 174 crore would be spent on tap-water schemes in the second phase of Amrit Yojana. Be especially careful that the restoration of the roads excavated for pipeline laying or other works is not pending.
Make the process of legalizing old illegal colonies within time limit
Chouhan said that the state government has decided to make illegal colonies legal. Along with this, it has also been decided that no new illegal colony will be allowed to be built in the state. It is the responsibility of the urban bodies to ensure time-bound implementation of the process of legalizing old colonies and to eliminate any possibility of construction of illegal colonies in their area immediately.
Urban bodies increase financial resources by innovation
Chouhan said that urban bodies will have to innovate to create financial resources at their own level. In this direction, Indore Municipal Corporation has done innovation by issuing green bonds for setting up solar plants. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that all urban bodies should make efforts to encourage the use of solar energy in their area. The Chief Minister said that Sanchi’s electricity system will be powered by solar energy from May 3, International Solar Energy Day. By developing financial resources by the urban bodies, the cities will become self-dependent and development will accelerate. Along with this, public facilities will also be expanded.
Dialogue with the mayor and presidents
Chouhan also interacted with the mayors and presidents of the urban bodies. Indore Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargava thanked Chief Minister Shri Chouhan for providing an amount of Rs 25 crore for 06 roads of Indore and informed about the innovation being done for traffic management. The office bearers of Municipal bodies Mandsaur, Jaura and Dhanpuri also expressed their gratitude for the initiative taken by Chief Minister Shri Chouhan to provide funds for the maintenance of roads.
Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh said that for the first time in the history of the state, on the initiative of Chief Minister Chouhan, who has done the culmination of hard work for the works of development and social concern, the urban bodies have been allocated funds from the state budget for the maintenance of roads. Funds are being made available. Under the leadership of Chouhan, the state ranks first in the country in the field of cleanliness and our cities are developing as models in the country.
2611 premises will be closed
Minister Bhupendra Singh appreciated the provisions made by the Chouhan to discourage liquor. He said that 2611 courtyards of the state would be closed. Liquor shops will not be opened near religious and educational institutions. Driving licenses of those who drive under the influence of alcohol will be cancelled. He said that a decision has already been taken to close 64 liquor shops on the banks of Maa Narmada and not to open new liquor shops. Mr. Singh said that in comparison to other states, the revenue received from liquor in Madhya Pradesh is very less. Per capita alcohol consumption is also the lowest in the state.
2 gifts for sisters at once
Minister Bhupendra Singh said that Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has given two gifts to the sisters at once. While one has saved them from the problems they are facing due to liquor vends, on the other hand, by implementing the Ladli Bahna Yojana, work has been done to empower them financially.
Thanksgiving meeting will be held tomorrow in all 413 urban bodies
Minister Bhupendra Singh said that a thanksgiving meeting will be held in all 413 urban bodies on February 21 to thank Chief Minister Shri Chouhan for the new liquor policy brought in to discourage alcohol abuse. The thanksgiving meeting will be held at the main place of the state. He urged the women councilors to definitely bring the sisters to the thanksgiving meeting.
Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing O.P.S. Bhadoria said that while ensuring quality in the maintenance of roads, the policy of zero tolerance towards corruption should be adopted. People’s representatives should cooperate in the execution of maintenance works while being alert. This will make it possible to complete the work within the time limit.
Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing Neeraj Mandloi said that the responsibility of the maintenance of the roads of the urban bodies rests with the municipal corporations. On the initiative of Chief Minister Chouhan, funds are being made available to the urban bodies for road maintenance. Mayor of Bhopal Mr. Malti Rai, President of Bhopal Municipal Corporation Mr. Kishan Suryavanshi and other public representatives were present.
In the Rejuvenation Campaign, funds were allocated on the basis of the category of population for the upgradation of the roads of the urban bodies. 25 crore for cities with a population of more than one million, 7 crore for cities with a population of two lakh to 10 lakh, 3 crore for a population of one to 2 lakh, 2 crore 50 lakh for a population of 50 thousand to one lakh. 1 crore 60 lakh were transferred to cities with a population of 30 to 50 thousand, one crore to cities with a population of 20 to 30 thousand and Rs 50 lakh to cities with a population of less than 20 thousand. State directorate and divisional level committee have been formed to monitor the works. Divisional level mobile testing lab has been established for quality control. State level quality monitors have been nominated. The routes of the cities where there is more traffic will be upgraded on priority.
