In the wake of a novel coronavirus outbreak throughout the state, the Rajasthan government declared on Wednesday that all cities would be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. before the end of April.
According to the decision, the night curfew will be in effect from April 16 to April 30, or before further directives are given.
The state government had previously enforced a night curfew in a number of towns, including Ajmer, Jaipur, and Jodhpur.
“Night curfew enforced in 9 cities—Ajmer, Alwar, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, and Abu Road beginning from 8 pm to 6 am, until April 30,” according to the Rajasthan government’s order.
The night curfew in Udaipur will be enforced from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., according to the notification.
According to an official survey, four deaths were recorded in Kota, Jodhpur, and Udaipur, three in Jaipur and Pali, two in Barmer and Nagaur, and one death each in Ajmer, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Bundi, Jhalawar, and Tonk.
Apart from those in other districts, 989 new cases were registered from Jaipur, 770 from Jodhpur, 729 from Udaipur, and 616 from Kota.
On Tuesday, the state registered 6,200 new Covid incidents, including 1,325 in the capital, Jaipur, with the positivity rate skyrocketing from 2% last month to nearly 8% now.
The active caseload has surpassed 40,000, which is a concerning indication for a state that seemed to have suppressed the deadly virus in comparison to the rest of the world.
So far, the novel coronavirus has been connected to almost 3,000 deaths.
The state education board exams for grades 10 and 12 have also been postponed by the administration. The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education in Ajmer was also ordered to encourage students from classes 8, 9, and 10 to higher grades. Gehlot made the decisions after consulting with Govind Singh Dotasra, the state’s education minister.
