According to bank authorities, the Mumbai Crime Branch has asked the State Bank of India to confiscate two State Bank accounts of businessman and actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra in Kanpur.
Several crores of rupees have been placed in these two bank accounts, according to SBI officials.
Another issue concerning Kundra arose after the bank accounts were seized on Sunday. Arvind Srivastava handled Raj Kundra’s production firm, according to ANI, and the money was moved to Arvind Srivastava’s wife Harshita.
Arvind’s father NP Srivastava who lives in the Shyam Nagar, told ANI: “In the last two years, Arvind has not come home and he sends money from time to time in the name of household expenses.”
The Mumbai Crime Branch issued a lookout notice for Arvind in February 2021, according to NP Srivastava.
Arvind’s father, on the other hand, claims to be uninformed of Arvind’s employment or the funds sent to Harshita’s account.
The news comes just one day after four of Raj Kundra’s workers testified against him.
Raj Kundra, the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, was detained by Mumbai police on July 20 in connection with an alleged porn racket. Raj Kundra’s firm, which is controlled by Kundra’s brother-in-law, used to run an internet streaming service that reportedly produced pornographic movies in cooperation with a London-based firm. Kundra was detained by police and remanded in jail until July 23, a date that has since been extended to July 27.
Tanvir Hashmi, one of the people accused in the case and who is claimed to have edited the films in issue, stated on Sunday that the tapes were not pornographic and that he had never seen Kundra. After being called by the Crime Branch, Hashmi talked to the media while out on bail. Actor Gehana Vasisth and two other people were summoned for interrogation in the matter, but they did not show up.
Hashmi said that he assured the investigative agency that the films in question were not pornographic and that he had never met Kundra. The Crime Branch interrogated him for five hours.
