On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted light to moderate-intensity thunderstorms in parts of Uttar Pradesh for the next 1-2 hours. Due to a cyclonic formation adjoining the northeast Bay of Bengal, the Met department had already issued an alert for heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in parts of West Bengal, as well as isolated rains in Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted light to moderate-intensity thunderstorms in parts of Uttar Pradesh over the next 1-2 hours. Due to a cyclonic formation adjoining the northeast Bay of Bengal, the Met department had already issued a warning for heavy rains, thunderstorms, and lightning in parts of West Bengal, as well as isolated rains in Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

A rainfall alert has been issued by the IMD in these states:

  1. Uttar Pradesh: Thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain are expected in the next two hours over Kasganj, Bijnor, Deoband, Naziababad, Roorkee, Sharanpur, Chandpur, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Sambhal, Chandausi, Bilari, Atrauli, and adjoining areas.
  1. Rainfall activity will be fairly widespread to widespread in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfalls.
  2. Over the next 4-5 days, Bihar and Uttarakhand, as well as other parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, will see widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls. The rest of northwest India will see scattered to widespread rain from June 11 to 14, with isolated heavy rain from June 12 to 13.
  3. . During June 11-15, Kerala is very likely to see isolated heavy rainfall, while Konkan and Goa are very likely to see extremely heavy rainfall during the same time period. Maharashtra’s coastal and adjoining Ghats districts, as well as coastal Karnataka, are expected to see heavy to extremely heavy rainfall during this time.

During the next 24 hours, conditions favorable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon will become more prominent in more parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, remaining parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, entire West Bengal and Jharkhand, parts of Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh, and remaining parts of North Bay of Bengal, according to the IMD’s rainfall alerts.
