According to multiple reports, Congressman Rahul Gandhi received the first dose of the coronavirus disease vaccine (Covid-19) three days ago. After receiving the jab against Covid-19, he did not attend Parliament on Thursday and Friday, citing sources familiar with the situation. It was unclear whether he received Covaxin or Covishield.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has previously questioned Rahul Gandhi about his delay in receiving a Covid-19 vaccine, accusing him and his family of inducing vaccine hesitancy.
The Congress party announced in June that party president Sonia Gandhi had received both doses of the Covishield vaccine, and her daughter and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had received the first dose. Rahul Gandhi will take his shot after recovering from Covid-18, according to Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.

On Friday, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced that the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses given in the country had surpassed 460 million. On Friday, the health ministry reported that 20,96,446 first doses and 3,41,500 second doses were given to people aged 18 to 44. Since the start of phase-3, 15,17,27,430 people in the 18-44 age group have received their first dose across all states and union territories, and 80,31,011 have received their second dose.
