Singapore: While targeting BJP, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday that there is usually an atmosphere of fear in India where there is politics to divide people and use their anger to win elections. Rahul, who participated in a debate in Singapore’s prestigious Lee Kuan Yi School of Public Policy, said that there is a challenge in front of India’s institutional framework.
He said, “There is a different kind of politics that is happening in many places in India, to divide people and win elections. ” Rahul said, “If you ask me what is the pride of my country, then this is the idea of pluralism.”
On the recent controversy over the Supreme Court’s four senior judges’ press conference, Rahul said, “They actually went to the press and said, listen, we want people to listen to us because basically something is wrong. ” He said, “I do not know whether you are aware of the judges’ comments or not but Amit Shah is in the center of the matter, therefore there is a challenge before the institutional framework of our country.”
Rahul said, “There is a very aggressive and organized attack on the system and on the judiciary. If you talk to the press with the people of the industry, they will also tell you that we feel frightened.”
The Congress President said that Mahatma Gandhi had dreamed for India as a country where all people feel comfortable beyond religion, community and state. He accused the BJP and the Sangh of being involved in anti-minority politics in response to a question from the audience. Rahul said, “Mahatma Gandhi lost his life while protecting minorities, we have been protecting minorities for the last 70 years, we do not like India where people are oppressed. “
He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has control over the law, he has control over the police in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana . Still all the criminal activities are going on in these states. India is becoming a very dangerous state.”
“We will fight against them and defeat them.” He added.
