The Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered the police is free to proceed against the petitioner in the first FIR registered at Tukoganj, Indore against Congress MP Digvijaya Singh over tweet on RSS ex-chief Golwalkar.

The court order said it is also directed that so far as subsequent FIRs are concerned, the petitioner would not be required to attend those cases and no action in those cases shall be taken against the petitioner till the next date of hearing.

Although respondents are free to proceed against the petitioner in the first FIR i.e. Crime No. 311/2023 registered at Police Station Tukoganj, Indore, the court order said.

The court issued the direction on a petition filed by Singh challenging the FIRs in this regard. After FIR was registered in Tukoganj, Indore subsequent FIRs were registered against him in Ujjain, Dewas, Raigarh and Guna in this matter.

In July an FIR was registered against Congress MP Digvijaya Singh in Police Station Tukoganj, Indore over his social media post on MS Golwalkar, former chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

The Congress leader is reportedly booked under sections 153A, 469, 500 and 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh tweeted a poster, which he captioned, “Do know what Guru Golwalkar ji’s thoughts were for the Dalits, backwards and Muslims and on the right on national water, forest and land.”
